About Croce & Carol - The Sicilian Life
Hi, we are Croce and Carol Amato.
We first met back in 1977 when Croce and partners opened the very first Original Italian Pizza (OIP) in Lewistown, Pennsylvania.
At that time, Lewistown was a bustling town and Monument Square was always filled with people shopping and running errands.
This was long before the Wal*Marts of the world…
The pizzeria was very busy, and they were often hiring. My sister was a waitress at the OIP so I studied their menu and applied because I was hoping to get hired too. You can imagine my surprise when I sat down for my interview, and Croce looked me in the eye, smiled, and said, “You wanna worka? You worka.” I was hired on the spot, and we have been together ever since.
Absolutely don’t want to take our family or friends for granted. It’s so easy to get caught up in the day-to-day activities and do exactly that.
God has blessed us over the years, and we are very thankful for our family. We have three adult children. Two daugthers, one son, and three beautiful grandchildren with another on the way. Exciting!
Moving to Sicily
Forty-five years after we met, we moved to Carini, Sicily, the town where Croce was born and raised. We have thoroughly enjoyed our time here in the Province of Palermo.
We started our YouTube channel, and this blog, to capture our experiences while in Sicily and share them with family and friends. It’s a way for us to memorialize our experiences and memories.
