Why We Left Sicily: Unveiling The Real Reason
In this video, we share why we left Sicily and what our future plans are.
Hi, I’m Carol. And I’m Croce. We’re the Amatos, and we are updating you all on The Sicilian Life on our YouTube series. We post videos weekly.
Life in Texas and Decision to Move to Sicily
We’d been enjoying life in Texas with our three adult kids. We have two daughters and a son.
Back in 2022, in our 60s, we decided to move to your place of birth.
Croce’s and Carol’s Background
I was born and raised in the United States. I’m a Navy brat, and we lived in all the Northeastern states,
Maryland, Virginia, Pennsylvania, New York.
Where were you born and raised? I was born in Carini, Provincia Palermo, in Sicily. Very cool. It’s a beautiful place.
Anyway, we moved there. We have a video on that. It’s a short one. You can watch that. I’ll put the link in the description below.
Moving to Sicily and Connecting with Old Friends
Back in 2022, we did that, and we were living life to the fullest.
We connected back with your school friends. One time he went to the store, and a schoolmate that you hadn’t seen in over 50 years, about 50 years, recognized him. Go figure. Anyway, a lot of fun stories from Sicily.
Grandchild Announcement and Return to Texas for Family
This little necklace came in the mail. I don’t know if you can see it. It’s got three little — well, right now, it has three birthstones.
Back then, when I received it in Sicily, it had two birthstones to represent my two granddaughters.
Then another little charm had a little heart on it, and it was letting us know, on a video chat with our son and daughter-in-law, that we were getting a new little grandchild. So that started pulling at my heartstrings as a grandma.
There were other things in the family. We wanted to be near family. We needed to be near family.
So we came back to Texas and have been living here, thoroughly enjoying it, loving it.
Planning the Move Back to Sicily
We found out that God is not done with us in Sicily. So we are headed back. We have a one-way ticket back to Sicily.
Cost of Living and New Place in Sicily
We are excited because we already got a car, and we already have another place to stay.
Of course, the place we stayed, the beautiful villa we stayed in, we couldn’t hold it for that length of time and not pay rent.
So we had to let that beautiful villa go. And we’ll share a link in the description of the tour, and we shared how much we paid in rent for that villa.
Anyway, we have a new one coming up, and of course, we’ll show you all through and we’ll let you see where we’re going to be staying.
A lot of you have requested detailed information on the pricing.
And you’re more of a numbers person, so you know about the gas and the electric and all of the pricing, internet and all of that.
So we’re going to be given that kind of information for living in Sicily and what it costs to live in Sicily, even groceries and everything.
Croce takes care of all the numbers. And so we’re going to be providing that information.
Upcoming Travel Plans to Return to Sicily
We wanted to let you know that our travel plans very soon we’ll be heading back to Sicily one way. We’ll keep you up to date with videos on all of that.
Stay tuned for more updates on our Sicilian adventure, and feel free to reach out with any questions.
Thanks for being a part of our story!
